An opening year you wont want to miss!
With Nintendo Switch being revealed about a month ago the rumors have yet to stop. Today Emily Rogers has revealed on Twitter that at least nine games are going to come to the Switch in the first twelve months of the Switch’s life. Almost all of the games she mentions have not been shown by Nintendo.
With rumors going around that Zelda: Breath of the Wild will not meet a march release date that we all expected and the 3D Mario game shown in the reveal trailer is going to take the launch spot. Splatoon is also rumored to be a pack in-game with the also rumored deluxe version of the Switch. Mario Kart was also shown in the trailer along with Splatoon and Mario but Nintendo said not to assume these games are real. As for me, I’m sure all of these games are going to be there near the launch of the Switch.
Pokemon and Pikmin 4 have been rumored for the Switch as well. Shigeru Miyamoto has even said back in 2015 that Pikmin 4 was nearly complete but many fans have feared with the Pikmin 3D game announced in the last Nintendo Direct, I wouldn’t worry about Pikmin 4, I and many others believe that it’s just a simple and harmless spin-off. Pokemon however is a different story. With Sun and Moon under two days away from release, many do not know if it will be simply a third version of Sun and Moon or a new game. We will not know for certain until the January 12th Switch event.
The final two games are a lot harder to speculate on. A new IP and a game from Retro Studios. I don’t think anyone can really predict what the new IP will be, I mean who would’ve guessed Splatoon? But Retro Studios has some leads about what the game could be. It could potentially be either another Donkey Kong Country game, after 2010’s Donkey Kong Country Returns and 2014’s Tropical Freeze it is possible that another game in the DKC series is on the way. But what I’m sure more people want is another Metroid Prime game or just another game in the Metroid series which many people want after what some would call a mediocre release of Metroid Prime: Federation Force, all Metroid fans wants another game in the series like the Metroid Prime series. But Retro could throw us a curve ball and make a new game based off another Nintendo series or they could go their own way and make their own IP. It’s really too early to tell.
With Emily correctly predicting both the Switch announcement date and the fact that Switch news was going to come out the week after (which turned out to be true with the Nintendo Switch even reveal,) a lot of people are hanging on to every rumor she releases. Do you believe this is true? Do you think this is all we are going to get in the first year? Does this mean the rumored Smash port will not be coming in the first year? I guess we will have to wait until January to find out for certain. If this is true, us Nintendo fans have an exciting 2017 ahead of us!
