The Game Awards 2016: Should we expect a Nintendo announcement?

Don’t expect anything major….or anything

With the game awards just days away, many people are speculating if we will receive another big announcement or update on upcoming Nintendo games. While yes it is possible that Nintendo could drop another bombshell like they did back at the 2014 game awards when Aonuma and Miyamoto sat down in a pre-recorded segment showing off Zelda U; now know as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

However, last years award show held no big announcements from Nintendo, they won multiple awards and had a very touching tribute to the late Satoru Iwata but there was no announcement from Nintendo like they did back in 2014.

So the simple answer is you shouldn’t expect anything but also remain optimistic. While I would not assume any Switch info, as Nintendo has already revealed when they are going to reveal the games coming around the Switch’s launch and more details we all want to know. We could possibly see a 3DS trailer or two on games like Mario Sports: Superstars or the Pikmin game coming tot he 3DS. I’m not optimistic however about a reveal but I think if we are to get anything it would be a Breath of the Wild trailer. But even then I don’t think its likely that’s going to happen because I think they’d want to save all trailers for the big Switch event in January.

The Game Awards air on Thursday; December 1st at 5:30 pm Pacific/8:30 eastern
