Nintendo Switch to be playable at PAX, SXSW and select cities

Nintendo will be revealing the Switch console on January 12th in Tokyo, Japan, with the presentation being broadcast worldwide, and right after people will be able to get their hands on Nintendo’s newest console/portable device in select locations.


Today comes an announcement that Nintendo will be present at both PAX and SXSW on the following dates and locations:

  • PAX South in San Antonio, TX – Jan. 27-29
  • PAX East in Boston, MA – March 10-12
  • SXSW in Austin, TX – March 16-18

For people that weren’t sent an email invitation for the Switch Preview Event, or are unable to make it to it, this will allow them to experience the Switch before it is officially release.


Nintendo will kick off their multi-city Switch Preview Event next month (January) in New York from the 13th to the 15th. Other cities will be part of the tour, but the first two days are reserved for invite-only. The invites have been sent out via email, and there’s a chane that you could have gotten one. The third date will be open to the public, but the capacity is limited, so make sure you are one of the first to get there.

These is the full list of cities for the Switch Preview Event:

  • New York – Jan. 13 and 14 (invite-only), 15 (limited capacity)
  • Toronto – Jan. 27 and 28 (invite -only), 29 (limited capacity)
  • Washington, D.C. – Feb. 10 and 11 (invite-only), 12 (limited capacity)
  • Chicago – Feb. 17 and 18 (invite-only), 19 (limited capacity)
  • San Francisco – Feb. 24-25 (invite-only), 26 (limited capacity)
  • Los Angeles – March 3 and 4 (invite-only, 5 (limited capacity)

The Nintendo Switch Presentation will be hosted in Japan on January 12th at 8 PM PT/ 11 PM ET and streamed live everywhere.
