Steep, Rayman, and Just Dance make up a lackluster lineup of games from Ubisoft for the Switch

Ubisoft confirmed today that Steep, Just Dance 2017, and Rayman Legends Definitive Edition will be coming to the Nintendo Switch as part of the ‘initial lineup’ of games. Only Just Dance 2017 will be a laugh title however. Rayman and Steep are set to come later in the year.

This is a very underwhelming selection of games, as Rayman Legends and other installments of Just Dance already came to the Wii U.

Lets take a look at the ups and downs of the initial Ubisoft lineup for the Switch.

Just Dance as a launch title was expected, as Ubisoft tries to attract the causal gamer back into gaming as most of the audience has shifted to mobile gaming. Attracting the casual gamer back to consoles seems to be once of Nintendo’s goals with the Switch and the Just Dance franchise will aide in that cause.

Rayman Legends being ported to the Switch is surprising, given the history of the games development. It’s hard to deny how great the game is however, as Legends is one of the best 2D platformers of the current console generation. Rayman should be a game that many players who missed out on should pick up and the fact that it’s portable only aides its case for being ported to the Switch.

Steep is a game that has you explore the open world of the Alps and Alaska while meeting other players and engaging in winter sports games. It’s a solid game that is currently available on PC, PS4, and Xbox; Seeing it ported to the Switch is certainly pleasant as long as no key features are left out of the game.

Only three games is certainly underwhelming but Ubisoft has came out to say that:

“These three games are just the beginning. We will share more about other exciting projects for the Nintendo Switch at a later date.”

So, what do you all think about this Lineup?
