A Bonafide Success
As more sales data continues to trickle in, more reports about Nintendo’s launch and its success are being reported. This time, Lefigaro.fr reports that the Nintendo Switch has enjoyed the best console launch in France’s history with over 105,000 systems sold. Not only that, but Breath of the Wild managed to sell 96,000 copies, helping it have an unheard of attach rate of over 91%.
Overall, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sold 130,000 copies cumulatively between Switch and Wii U in France. In contrast, Wii sold 95,000 consoles on the first weekend of release.
It will be interesting to see how Switch tracks in comparison with Wii, but it is worth remembering that Switch is releasing during a historically quiet season for videogame systems (March), and Wii was released in November, right at the start of the Holiday spending spree.
How successful will Switch be?
