Forever in Spirit

Hidemaro Fujibayashi, director of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and the creative team all went through some hard times midway through the development of the game when Satoru Iwata, President of Nintendo, passed away two years ago. The team did state that they were devastated by his passing, but that his spirit guided them through the process and inspired them every step of the way.

Now, Tristan Cooper published on his Twitter account what seems to be a personal tribute to Iwata from the team.

Some people speculate that the word Saturi is used as ‘Satur’ for Saturo and the ‘i’ for ‘Iwata’. Then again, this could also point to a ‘Supernatural Monster‘ that is said to live in the mountains, which is part of the Japanese Folklore.

Even if this doesn’t turn out to be a tribute, there is no denying from the team that Iwata inspired them every step of the way. And if it is, I would be curious to know what other Easter Eggs the team has hidden throughout the world of Hyrule.
