So as we now know for certain, there are no new courses included in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. While I was a huge supporter for the hope of getting new tracks, I now have realized that I am still extremely excited about the new version even without them. I’m going to cover this in two perspectives; one being a fan like myself who owned a Wii U and bought Mario Kart 8 on Wii U, the other being someone who skipped the Wii U generation entirely. Both will discuss why I still believe it is worth a buy for everyone.
Past Mario Kart 8 Owners:
While yes it is very disappointing that we aren’t getting any new tracks. However, we are getting many new characters, Bowser Jr as well as Inklings being the standout favorites to me. We are also getting 2 item slots, which will certainly shake up the races in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. As well as 2 returning items, the Boo, which will make you invisible and steal an item from another racer, as well as the battle mode exclusive feather, which will allow you to jump over obstacles and steal things like balloons from other racers. Speaking of which….We are actually get a good battle mode! Which will have 5 modes, playable both online and local multiplayer! These modes include Balloon Battle, Bob-omb Blast, Coin Runners, Shine Thief, and the new addition, Renegade Roundup. All of these modes look to be extremely fun. The mode also includes 8 battle stages, 5 being new and 3 being from older games. Most importantly they are actually maps specifically for battle mode, unlike having to battle on actual tracks in the Wii U version. I believe all of these additions to be a great reason to rebuy it on Nintendo Switch next month! However if you aren’t a fan of battle mode, this may not be worth a purchase, unless you missed out on the DLC on the Wii U. Oh, I also forgot one other thing….You can play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe anywhere with anyone on the Switch. That alone could make it worth it for me.
Everyone who skipped Mario Kart 8:
Everything I said in the last section remains true for everyone who didn’t buy Mario Kart 8. There is so content in this game. Over 40 characters, 48 race tracks, new 200cc mode, as well as an amazing online experience. If you still don’t own Mario Kart 8 in any way, I beg you to purchase this. You will be getting more content than ever before in a Mario Kart game. I cant really say anything else because if you have read everything I have said already and you aren’t already sold, I don’t think I can sell you on the game.
I hope this helped someone make a decision whether to buy the game on the Switch. I am extremely to excited to play this again on my Switch next month and I hope you are too!
