Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World is a port of the Wii U game for the 3DS with new additions such a Yoshi pattern creation tool and new Poochy dash stages and the introduction of a Poochy Amiibo that came with the deluxe version of the game and is sold separately. Please note that this is not like my normal reviews and this is honestly just me rambling because I don’t really have too much to say on the game. I apologize to everyone who doesent like this format and promise you that I will go back to my more scripted format in my next review.
The game doesent add much new to the table besides a few new Poochy dash stages that you will come across throughout your adventure where you play as pooch and run through a stage trying to collect things that really felt like small mini games that had little impact to the gameplay. While they are nothing special they are harmless and I found them to be a fun short distraction while playing through the game. As well as a couple dozen short mini movies that are extremely cute and as said previously a Yoshi Pattern creation tool that I rarely used but I could see a lot of creative uses out of it.
The game runs well on the 3DS and runs even better on the New 3DS, similar to Hyrule Warriors except that the game can be played well on all 3DS systems. The game looks nice even though the downgrade from the Wii U version is apparent but the visuals never negatively impacted my playthrough of the game. There are many creative levels to explore, most being great a few being annoying to go through but none of them were bad.
The game is just as good as it was on the Wii U and that’s not a bad thing. I loved this game but if you’ve already played this on the Wii U I cannot recommend that you buy this for a second time unless you really want to play it on the go. If you haven’t played the game before I encourage you to go out and buy this now. It is well worth your time and money.
I award Poochy and Yoshi’s Woolly World an 8.5/10 – Great
