Wii U games continue to live on Switch


Pokkén Tournament DX will have the special distinction of being the first Pokémon game that will grace the Nintendo Switch. Originally released as an arcade fighter in Japan back in July, 2015 and was later ported to the Wii U in March, 2016, Pokkén Tournament DX will feature all 16 playable characters from the Wii U version:

  • Blaziken
  • Braixen
  • Chandelure
  • Charizard
  • Garchomp
  • Gardevoir
  • Gengar
  • Lucario
  • Machamp
  • Mewtwo
  • Pikachu
  • Pikachu Libre
  • Sceptile
  • Shadow Mewtwo
  • Scuicune
  • Weavile

The Nintendo Switch version will feature five additional characters:

  • Croagunk
  • Darkrai
  • Decidueye
  • Empoleon
  • Scizor

The game itself will be compatible with Tabletop mode, TV mode, and handheld mode, with the trailer itself showing the single Joy-Con gameplay prominently:

The good news is that for those who never played the Wii U version of Pokkén Tournament will have access to a free demo of the game starting on June 13th. More information in regards to the game will be shown during the Treehouse stream at E3 as well as an invitational.
