The good news keep on coming
Ever since the Global Testfire more than a month ago, people were left wondering if ‘Team Animal Crossing’ would have to settle for 720p on Splatoon 2 instead of the 1080p that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe enjoyed on Switch. This was mainly because Splatoon 2 ran at 720p during the Global Testfire, even though it ran at a nearly flawless 60 frames per second.
During the second day of the Nintendo Treehouse we have finally received concrete confirmation. Splatoon 2 will be 1080p when docked compared to 720p when undocked. This is great news, as the game will look even smoother when complimented by the 60fps.
It is pretty easy to understand how the Switch is capable of handling 1080p resolution and keeping up with 60fps, especially when you consider that the Wii U had 2 GB RAM and the Switch has 4 GB RAM. Also, with Nintendo pushing Splatoon 2 as a great alternative for eSports, the 60fps are a must for the series.
And talking about eSports, Nintendo hosted the Splatoon 2 World Inkling Invitational during the Nintendo Treehouse with Team USA beating Team Japan in a very contested finals.
The commentators did a great job engaging the viewer while narrating the contest. Splatoon 2 is indeed a very viable option for the eSports scene.
