With the release of their Annual Report which ended on March, 31st, 2017, Nintendo had some interesting information included in it, and the ‘Quality of Life’ device was among them.

From the Nintendo Annual Report:

Revealed back in 2014, the Qualify of Life device was said to be a touch-less sensor which would monitor your sleeping habits and help on establishing a healthier diet of Zzzzz’s. For a company known for its iconic videogame characters, it was especially odd for some that they would venture into something completely different from what we are accustomed to.

For those that don’t remember, this isn’t the first time that Nintendo had attempted to take such a step.  Back during the Wii days Nintendo gave us its first glimpse at their Quality of Life attempt with the Vitality Sensor which was never released. Also, they did have a successful game release which tied directly to their QoL initiative called Wii Fit.

The Sleep Monitor might be some time away, but its nice to hear that it is very much in Nintendo’s plans.
