The return of the finest fusion comic book

It’s been 16 years since the last Battle Chasers comic book was published (Battle Chasers #9 in September, 2001) and fans have been thirsting since then for a conclusion to a story which had just started a new story arc.

With Joe Madureira having stopped drawing his own series to pursue a career in videogames, questions abound on when he would finally return to his iconic medieval-fantasy story about a girl with magical gloves in search of her father.

Darksiders 1 and 2 did appease those wanted to see more of Joe Madureira’s art, but Battle Chasers Nightwar is the real treasure that promises, along with accompanying comic books, to finally close the series’ story for good.

The game itself will release this October 3rd, but THQ Nordic and Airship Syndicte are giving us a glimpse of what to expect, with the game’s animated intro released on their YouTube channel:

Battle Chasers: Nightwar features the return of swordsman-extraordinaire Garrison, the young girl with a magical set of powerful gloves, Gully, gentle-in-heart but outlaw war golem, Calibretto, old wizard Knolan who takes Gully under his wing, and voluptuous bounty hunter, Red Monika, who has a special place in her heart for Garrison.

The Animated intro also introduces us to Alumon, a demon hunter who is new to the series and currently exclusive to the game, although it is not know if he will make the jump from the game to the comics.

This is as great a time as any to delve back into the original comics, which had a nine issue run, before the game and final three issues release.

Are you excited for the return of Joe Madureira’s Battle Chasers?
