Switch continues chugging along
Another week and another #1 spot for the Nintendo Switch atop the Japanese sales charts. Coming in first place at over 50,000 units sold, Switch has sold about 1,578,036 systems year to date. The 3DS came in third at 26,268 units, just below the PS4 at 26,384 systems.
With PS4’s Everybody’s Golf debuting at number 1, Splatoon 2 still held on strong to 2nd place with sales of 52,320 more game for a total of 1,056,500 software sales since launch. Monster Hunter XX passed the 100k mark in its second week on the chart with 27,120 software sales for a total of 111,396 since release.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sold an additional 12,474 units (672,688), ARMS with 5,183 sold (214,000), The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with 4,904 (576,067) and under-performing Night of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon debuting with 4,463 sold in its first week of availability.
Nintendo Switch held pretty strong on the hardware front and sales are only going to be increasing, assuming more systems will be available, with the release of Pokkén Tournament DX in late September, followed by Fire Emblem Warriors and Super Mario Odyssey in late October.
